General notes
- All locations that are libraries are on bus lines.
- Firearms and alcohol are prohibited at library locations.
- No location on this list has a bag policy that would restrict backpacks or the like.
Cincinnati Hamilton County Public Library (CHPL) Downtown Branch Tower Room
- On the third floor of the south building. The building entrances are street level but there’s a whole lot of stairs to get to the third floor inside, or an elevator. If you take the elevator close to the Walnut Street entrance there’s a little bit of a walk to actually get to the room on the third floor.
- There are gendered restrooms and a family restroom right outside the room door, as well as a water fountain with a water bottle filler. There is also one single-occupant, gender-neutral restroom on the ground floor of the south building, in the near-left corner of the floor if you enter from Vine Street or far-right if you enter from Walnut Street.
- There are a small number of outlets along a couple walls if you need to charge something, but they’re not convenient to the seating.
- Typical DSA uses: general meetings. Snacks (usually something like cookies/brownies/cupcakes, a meat & cheese type thing, and soda) are provided at general meetings and (K)N95 masks are provided and strongly encouraged to be worn when not eating. Childcare is typically provided for general meetings in an adjoining room that connects to both the hall and directly to the Tower Room.
- This library doesn’t have a parking lot like the others - expect either metered street parking, pay to park in a nearby lot or garage (one garage costs $5), or perhaps park somewhere a little further away and hop on the streetcar for free to get close to the library.
Campbell County Newport Library President’s Room
- Is on the lower level, no stairs are required, and the elevator has reliably been in order in our experience.
- There are single person gender neutral restrooms and a water fountain right outside the room.
- There is plenty of seating available.
- The room is often a little chilly; you might want a jacket or sweater.
- It’s not a convenient place to charge a device.
- Typical DSA uses: Back-up location for general meetings. Snacks (usually something like cookies/brownies/cupcakes, a meat & cheese type thing, and soda) are provided at general meetings and (K)N95 masks are provided and strongly encouraged to be worn when not eating. Childcare is provided at general meetings but may be in the same room or across the hall when meeting in this room.
- The Newport Library has a small parking lot.
Campbell County Newport Library Kinsella Room
- Is on the main level, with no stairs/ramp/elevator needed.
- There are two gender neutral single person restrooms and a water fountain right outside.
- There is plenty of seating available.
- There’s at least one outlet but it’s not a convenient place to charge a device
- Typical DSA uses: movie nights. Expect a strong popcorn scent at those events.
- The Newport Library has a small parking lot.
Walnut Hills Library study rooms
- On the main floor; there are a lot of steps or a long ramp to get in the front entrance.
- There are male, female, and one single person gender neutral restroom in the library, with water fountains.
- The rooms are 4-12 person capacity depending on the specific one.
- You can charge a laptop or other device if you sit in the right place.
- Typical DSA uses: book clubs, in-person component of electoral working group meetings, primary location for other small in-person meetings as needed. Snacks are not typically provided. (K)N95 masks are typically provided.
- There’s a free parking lot across the street.
Covington Library conference room
- Is downstairs, stairs or elevator needed.
- There are single person non-gendered restrooms and a water fountain on the floor the room is on, but it’s a big place and may take a bit of wandering around to find them if you haven’t been there multiple times before.
- There is plenty of seating.
- Typical DSA uses: monthly strategy sessions. (K)N95 masks are usually provided and there is not typically food present.
- There is a decent-sized free parking lot next door.
CHPL Downtown Library north meeting room A
- On the second floor of the north building. If you go in the main entrances on the south building no stairs are required but it’s a walk from the elevators, across the walkway connecting the north and south buildings, and to the meeting room.
- You can charge a laptop or other device in this room.
- Except for one segment, the room has glass walls with one wall being the outer wall of the building, and they don’t extend to the ceiling, so occupants are visible to other library patrons outside the room and conversations aren’t completely private. It’s bright on sunny days due to the outer wall.
- Typical DSA uses: book club location when it has to be scheduled on a Sunday. There isn’t usually food provided, but (K)N95 masks usually are.
- There are gendered bathrooms and a water fountain across the floor in a corner of the Makerspace.
Zoom
- General meetings and electoral working group meetings are hybrid with a Zoom option to attend. The majority of the working groups and committees hold their usual meetings exclusively via Zoom.
- People are welcome to keep their camera off, let their pets participate in the meeting, etc.
This list includes the locations we currently use on a semi-regular basis, and does not represent all possibilities. The “typical uses” notes also don’t guarantee that a given event will be in a specific place - attendees should rely on the calendar or announcements to ensure they have the right information for where something is happening that particular week/month.
