🚨 Petition to Protect Immigrant and Trans Communities in Cincinnati
Cincinnati is a city built on the strength of its diverse communities. We cannot stand idly by as our neighbors are targeted by harmful federal policies that seek to divide us and strip away the rights of the most vulnerable among us. While some leaders have made statements of support, their actions have been too slow and insufficient to address the urgent threats facing our communities. Every day of delay puts lives at risk. We call on our local leaders to take a stand and ensure that Cincinnati remains a safe and welcoming place for all.
By signing this petition, we are sending a clear message to Mayor Aftab Pureval, the Cincinnati City Council, and Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey: We demand immediate action to protect our immigrant and transgender communities, and we will hold our leaders accountable for upholding the values of justice, equality, and inclusion.
Note: This petition is only the first step to hold our leaders accountable. If they do not listen, we will use everything in our power to exert pressure until they do what is right. If you can contribute to this effort, join DSA.

In Kentucky, this year's Amendment 2 would change the state constitution to allow the allocation of public funds towards private schools, another in a frightening trend of attacks on public education across the US. Kentucky's Republican super-majority state legislature tried establishing a school voucher program in 2021, but the Kentucky Supreme Court struck it down as unconstitutional in December 2022. To pave the way for a lasting voucher program, they want to amend the state's constitution and remove the obstacle in the court.
