A sample ballot for the special election, marked up with explanations of why Issue 1 is bad. in summary: - Only 3 states have the requirement of 60% or more to pass a constitutional amendment - most use a simple majority! - This change ENDS majority rule, allowing just 40% of voters to block ANY issue - Ohio has 88 counties - the change requiring 5% of voters in EVERY county means that a SINGLE county can KILL any proposed amendment. This allows a tiny fraction of the state to STOP the democratic process! - The third clause of the issue eliminates a 7-day grace period that currently exists to allow making up for any signatures that are found to be invalid (e.g. if the signer moved or is not a resident of the county originally believed) - This issue was snuck in to the August Special Election SPECIFICALLY to taarget the abortion referendum in November and to avoid any future gerrymandering reform.
